The Beginning

David Goldich, at the time a language instructor for executives in multinationals and Julio Rat, an engineer, got together to develop a system that allows HR managers to have a better control of investments in language classes.

The initial idea pointed in the direction of software that would give autonomy to HR.

The Paradigm

During a presentation meeting an executive asks David a question which will soon change the approach of Paradigm.

"Why do professionals find it so difficult to learn a language?"

The search for an answer to that question led Paradigm into an investigation regarding the behavior and dynamics of language learning in the corporate environment.

Data from language course observation was cross-referenced with that of evaluations. From the study it became clear that evaluations should follow the path of a structured interview, which more than evaluating the language knowledge and performance, should also investigate the participant´s profile and provide a recommended strategy for development.

Strengthening the group

In 1996 Rolf Helmuth Goldberg was invited to join the company as a partner, bringing with him at that time 10 years of experience in the corporate language training market and commercial areas.

Standardization of our proficiency scale and impartiality

Evaluation processes, strategic recommendations and information managing systems unveil the need for an unified language scale and standardization of assessment and profiling processes. Paradigm invests in its interview scripts, consulting team training and in information treatment and analysis.

With the addition of the Spanish Language to the portfolio, Paradigm changes its name from Paradigm English Support to Paradigm Language Support.

From this moment on, Paradigm initiates its consolidation as a specialized consulting firm geared toward offering of strategic solutions for companies, human resources and participants willing to achieve above average results in their language investments.

Common European Framework

Paradigm adopts the Common Reference for Languages from the European Council, or CEF, as its reference linguistic scale. The report assumes the structure it presents today.

At the same time, Paradigm develops partnerships and becomes an Authorized Testing Center for major international evaluations.

Paradigm migrates to a WEB based platform, entirely developed by its own teams, adding agility and broadening the range of our management tools.

Paradigm integrated

Paradigm consolidates its first statistical development curve for English, giving support for calculating performance indicators and course content retention.

Paradigm integrates the concept of KPI´s (Key Performance Indicators), used today as standards for performance comparisons, investment, and project results management, particularly for complex corporate projects.

Firm steps

Paradigm continues to add statistics, control tools and export features to its WEB System.

Tests can now be applied and controlled independently from interviews, giving us the capability to conduct large scale testing for selection processes.

Celebrating the present, Preparing the future

Paradigm in numbers:

• 100.000 Language interviews.
• More than 150 active clients, the majority being large organizations.
• Approximately 1500 language schools in our databases.
• Operational capacity for 1700 language interviews per month.

In 2013 we launch a revised version of our WEBSITE promoting not only changes to our homepage but also new advances in user experience.

Additional to ongoing investments in improving client experience through more efficient processes on established services, Paradigm invests significantly in evaluations and their processes aimed at the selection and recruitment markets - mass evaluations - and, on the opposite side of the spectrum, Paradigm also invests in deeper approaches for attitude change and learning strategies - Individual Counseling and Cross Cultural Awareness.
